Sarah is deeply committed to community service. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Urban Ministry Center and Leadership Charlotte (she is a member of Class 34), and she is also a member of the Women’s Impact Fund.
But if you ask her what she is most proud of, she will simply say, “teaching the chronically homeless how to cook.” The program was born in 2013 when Sarah volunteered to teach a monthly cooking class to men and women who had been homeless, but who now, through the Urban Ministry Center, had found permanent housing at Moore Place.
Today, that simple idea has grown to become the Housing Works Culinary Arts Program and has expanded to include field trips, lessons from guest chefs, and other fun and exciting culinary experiences.
Sarah’s passion for working with women extends to her personal life as well, and she is a member of Women Executives and the KNOW Book +Tribe.
Sarah lives in Charlotte with her fiancée, Jim, and their 2 cats.
