Sarah is deeply committed to community service. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Roof Above and is President-Elect of the board for Leadership Charlotte (she is a member of Class 34). She is also a member of the Women’s Impact Fund.
But if you ask her what she is most proud of, she will simply say, “teaching the chronically homeless how to cook.” The program was born in 2013 when Sarah had the idea to teach a monthly cooking class to men and women who had been homeless, but who now, through Roof Above, had found permanent housing at Moore Place.
Today, that simple idea has grown to become the Housing Works Culinary Arts Program and has expanded to include field trips, lessons from guest chefs, and other fun and exciting culinary experiences.
Sarah’s passion for working with women extends to her personal life as well, and she is a member of Women Executives and the KNOW Book +Tribe.
Sarah lives in Charlotte with her husband, Jim, and their 2 cats.
